Overview
Discover India’s tiger-spotting paradise on a jungle safari in Panna Tiger Reserve. Located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Panna is renowned for its thriving tiger population and excellent viewing opportunities. Home to over 50 tigers, this protected area offers a chance to observe these majestic big cats in their natural habitat.
Begin your morning game drive as the sun rises over the forest. An expert guide will navigate you along dirt tracks winding through scenic sal and bamboo woodlands. Keep your eyes peeled for tiger pugmarks or other signs of recent activity. With some luck, you may spot a stealthy predator emerging from the shadows to drink from a watering hole. As you cruise by tranquil lakes and grassy clearings, look out for other wildlife as well. Spotted deer, sambar, and langur monkeys are commonly seen grazing in the early light.
In addition to tiger spotting, Panna is wonderful for spotting a variety of bird species. Brightly colored birds such as kingfishers, barbets, and bee-eaters enliven the lush vegetation. Cranes, storks, and colorful parakeets can often be seen soaring overhead or perched in the treetops. After a morning on the safari trail, return to your lodge for a hearty buffet lunch featuring local cuisine. Refuel and recharge before your afternoon game drive explores a different part of the reserve.
With nearly 300 square miles of protected forests and meadows, each jeep safari offers a unique experience. An afternoon game drive provides another chance to spot wildlife against the scenic backdrop of the Vindhya Hills. By day’s end, you’ll return with lasting memories and photographs of your incredible jungle adventure in one of India’s finest tiger reserves.
